Loads

Apply forces, pressures, and moments to your model in Dr.Q.

If you only have 2 minutes

Define the external forces acting on your component — forces, pressures, and moments.

Force & pressure

  • Point force — concentrated load in Newtons (N), applied to a node or face
  • Surface pressure — uniform load in MPa (N/mm²) applied to a face
  • Gravity — self-weight of the part (requires density in the material definition)

Point loads create singularities! Use surface loads wherever possible for physically meaningful results.

Moments

Moments are applied as rotational loads on faces or edges. Enter the value in N·mm or N·m.

Load distributions

Dr.Q supports uniform and hydrostatically distributed loads. For more complex distributions, use the tabular input.

Start with a simple load case. Only add complexity once the basic setup gives plausible results.
