Import Your Model
Export your CAD model as a STEP file and upload it to Dr.Q.
If you only have 2 minutes
Export your CAD model as a STEP file and provide it to Dr.Q. It may contain several separate bodies (an assembly), but they must all be in one file, and each body must be a closed, watertight solid.
Quick guide
- Export your model from your CAD system as a STEP file (.stp / .step)
- Open your project in Dr.Q and upload the file via drag & drop
- Check in the 3D preview: is the shape and scale correct?
Dr.Q handles multi-body assemblies: keep the parts as separate touching bodies in a single STEP file and connect them with bonded or contact conditions. Don't boolean-merge them into one solid — that removes the interfaces contact and bonding act on. The exact export steps for your CAD system (SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, …) are covered in Platform → Import Geometry.
